Principal’s Corner

Principal’s Corner

Parents as Partners,

My name is Donald Beuke and I am honored to be the Principal of Namaqua Elementary.

I have been a teacher for nine years in Adams 12 school district. I also was an elementary assistant Principal for 5 years.  I have two sons that are in first and fourth grade and a wife who is a middle school counselor.  I enjoy being outdoors as much as possible.  I tend to run a lot and I have run several ultramarathons.  I enjoy traveling with my family and relaxing at home with my family.  I strive to maintain balance in my life by being active and focusing on my family when I am not busy with school.

This has been an exciting year at Namaqua Elementary School and I am pleased to share this report of our school’s progress. Since 2009 we have shown steady improvement in all subject areas on the TCAP (state assessment). Our academic achievement has increased in all subject areas since 2009. Another amazing feat is we showed positive growth in all subject areas on TCAP. This growth is a testament of how dedicated our staff is towards providing the best instruction for each and every student.

Our school is working hard to meet our goal of having 95 percent of our students meeting grade level standards. While we are extremely pleased with our progress over time, we are implementing a rigorous plan for improvement to move every child to a higher level of achievement.

This proves that our response to intervention, positive behavior support, and standards based educational approach are enhancing student achievement. With data analysis and continual professional development for our staff our vision of the future will be continually student achievement centered.

Our focus this year is implementing the new teacher evaluation system and unit planning and design. This will help facilitate collaboration and create a system focused on the best instruction.

But even more than test scores, our school remains committed to developing a love of learning in our students, an appreciation of others and the community in which we live. Our students are successful because of the strong partnership between families, staff, students and a caring community.

I invite you to come experience Namaqua Elementary School first hand and put a face on the information this report provides. Thank you for making me so proud to serve you as your school’s principal.
